The Story of “Rina” — A Journey from Bondage to Freedom

Love Treks is committed to rescuing victims of slavery and walking alongside them as they rebuild their lives.

In Pakistan, our primary mission centers on freeing individuals trapped in the brutal cycle of bonded labor in brick factories. The heartbreaking reality is that many families, overwhelmed by poverty, feel they have no choice but to send their loved ones into these factories, where freedom becomes almost impossible to reclaim.

Every life we encounter leaves a mark on our hearts, but some stories stay with us forever. “Rina’s” is one of them.

When our Pakistan advocate, Haseeb, first met “Rina”, she was just a child, yet already carrying the weight of unimaginable hardship. Orphaned by the age of ten, her life had been shaped by loss and suffering.

Her father had passed away when she was only five, and not long after, her mother grew ill. With no steady income and rising expenses, her mother was forced to take out small loans just to survive. But those loans piled up, and soon, there was nothing left—no food, no shelter, no hope.

In desperation, her mother took a loan from a brick factory to repay their mounting debts. In return, she and “Rina” became bonded laborers—slaves to the kiln, working tirelessly just to eat.

Tragically, her mother passed away when “Rina” was just ten. Alone and still bound by debt, Rina remained in the brick factory. For six long years, she endured the cruel reality of modern-day slavery—working 14 hours a day, beaten when sick, forced to labor with no end in sight.

But then, Haseeb and “Rina’s” paths crossed.

During a visit to the factory, Haseeb met “Rina”. He noticed a slight glimmer of hope in “Rina’s” eyes. She asked us for only one thing: freedom. Nothing more, simply the ability to live as a child again and relinquish the pain and suffering she was enduring. Haseeb promised her that he would pray and share her story.

Through your generosity and prayers, the impossible became possible. The funds were raised, her debt of $750 was paid, and “Rina” was set free.

Today, “Rina” is no longer in the factory. She has been reunited with her father’s brother, an uncle who embraced her with tears in his eyes and love in his heart. He has promised to care for her like his own daughter. “Rina” now lives with her cousins, surrounded by family, laughter, and a future that once felt so far away.

Thank you for being part of this mission, and for standing with Love Treks to rescue and restore the lives of the vulnerable in Pakistan.
